Nipples. We’re born with them, they’re 100% natural, they feed our babies, all women have them, and for some, the thought or sight of them cause an uproar from indecency to sex.

When I’m bra fitting my clients, most will ask for bras with thicker molding.   Their reason is “because I like the shape the molding provides” or “because I want a smooth look.” Most often, it’s a timid “because I don’t want my nipples to show through my shirt.” They want nipple covers.

Nipples are an important part of our female form. So whether or not you wish to showcase yours, that’s an individual choice.  For those who choose not to share there’s, here are my tricks to hiding yours without having to wear thick molded cup bras because for many women don’t want the extra bulk and they don’t fit properly.

1. Non Adhesive Covers.  For years Wacoal’s No Peeks have been my favorite nipple covers.  The thin molded cups give woman more nipple coverage while making their soft cups feel more like molded cup bras.  You put these in the cups of your bra.  They’re seamless and you CANNOT see them underneath thinner bras. The purpose of these is not to cover the entire breast, but to cover a portion of it.  Here’s how the sizing works.

S = B/C
M = C/D
L = D/DD
XL = DDD+

2. Adhesive Covers. The Komene Pasties are the best rated adhesive nipple covers out there.  These are reusable and washable.  They come in a variety of shapes like hearts and flowers.  These are great for when you want to go braless.

3. Textured Cup Bras.  There’s a big misconception that all molded cup bras will hide nipples.  This isn’t the case.  Most popular molded bra styles today are made with softer materials where they mold to your breasts and nipples.

Unfortunately, with the softer material, comes less nipple protection.  If you don’t want to feel like you’re wearing a suit of armor, I recommend bras that have texture in the cup.  They do a great job of camouflaging nipples and you can’t see the print underneath clothing.

The Soma Enticing Lift Bra and the Wacoal Halo Lace Bra are some of my favorite examples of having a textured cup.  The great thing is you can’t see the texture underneath clothing!

Kim “Kimmay” Caldwell from the lingerie blog Hurray Kimmay said it very eloquently, “Nipples have a unique purpose to each of us. It’s your choice if you’d like to share them with someone. It’s your choice if you want the world, or just a chosen few, to see what yours look like.”

How do you feel about letting your nipples show?  Does it help you feel free, or feminine? Or do you feel they are no one’s business but your own? Do you think we should use nipple covers? I’d love to hear what you think! Leave a comment below and let’s get the conversation started on this “taboo” topic.
